This self-contained Principality is a fairytale shortbreak destination! Part sophisticated capital city, part Mediterranean resort, Monte Carlo's skyscrapers cling to the steep hillside above the sparkling harbour in happy contrast to the ornate Belle Epoque architecture of Casino Square and the narrow streets of the Old Town. A kaleidoscope of glamorous images, everyone can enjoy Monaco's many attractions - Prince Rainier's palace on the rock of Monaco, the Grand Prix and the Casino are all famous - but your visit needn't break the bank! With the Monte Carlo Passport included when you stay at our featured hotels, sightseeing is great value! Start with a view of the Principality from the Exotic Gardens and admire the yachts in the harbour, before strolling through the gardens in Casino Square to visit the Casino itself (must be over 21 years old). Museums include Prince Rainier's collection of vintage cars and the superb Oceanographic Museum and Aquarium. In the Old Town, watch the changing of the Palace Guard (11.55 each day) before visiting the Cathedral where Princess Grace is buried. Must Do
As you would expect, there are chic and expensive boutiques in the streets around Casino Square - bring your credit card! To Relax
There are a number of reasonably priced restaurants and bars in the Old Town. At night the art nouveau Café de Paris in Casino Square is the place to see and be seen; even the grandest hotels welcome non-residents in their bars, though prices are high, and there are several nightclubs where you can dance `til dawn.
