BRITS HAVE BEACH ON THE BRAIN - Direct Holidays latest research reveals the benefits of booking the beach.

As the nation returns to work it appears our heads are in the clouds.  According to research by Direct Holidays four out of five Brits are already planning a holiday in 2008 and it seems the benefits of a holiday kick in way before take off.

One in five Brits claim to think about going on holiday most days and booking a trip seems one way to beat those January blues.  The research revealed that just flicking through a brochure or browsing online raises peoples spirits with four out of five people stating that planning a holiday is the perfect pick up at this time of year.

Once a holiday is booked the benefits continue - three in five of us say they feel happier with something to look forward to and one in five admit to feeling more motivated at work.  And for those whose New Year resolution is to beat the bulge - one in five Brits feel more motivated to get fit and healthy after booking a break.

And, when the holiday is over the research shows that a holiday continues to work wonders with one in five saying they feel closer to their family or partner and over half state they return happier with a better outlook than before they went.

However, Brits biggest concern remains the cost.  Over half worry about how much a holiday will cost and a third feel that they can't afford those destinations they fancy the most.

It seems when deciding on a holiday four out of five Brits say they devote a lot of time seeking out the best holiday deal.  When it comes to choosing a destination  - price is the biggest temptation with a third saying a good price will tempt them to another destination and one is five opt for the destination most affordable for their family.
